The Current Symptoms Scale: Validity and Reliabilty Study

Objective: 17-24 age group normative data for the Current Symptoms Scale were presented in Ayçiçeği et al. (2003). The research objectives of the study 1 are: 1) to have more detail information for validity and reliability; 2) to further establish the validity of the Turkish version by comparing the Current Symptoms Scale to an established measure of Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview and of the study 2 is to present norm data for community population. Method: In study I, 1000 university students completed the Current Symptoms Scale. In addition, the Current Symptoms Scale was administered to a subset of students (n = 151) to determine test-retest reliability. Also, we administered the Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Module of the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview and the Current Symptoms Scale to a subset of the original 1000 students (n = 926). In study 2, Current Symptoms Scale was administered to general community subjects (n= 1903) of differing age and educational backgrounds. Results: Alpha and reliability values are significant and performance on the Current Symptoms Scale and the Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder module correlated significantly. In addition, in both studies, principal components factor analyses with varimax rotation were carried out. As expected, analyses revealed a two-factor solution; however, questions 6 and 8 did not load on the hyperactivity factor and they were deleted. Conclusion: These results suggested that the Current Symptoms Scale is a valid and a reliable measure.

Mevcut Semptomlar Ölçeği: Geçerlik ve Güvenirlik Çalışması

Amaç: Mevcut Semptomlar Ölçeği'nin 17-24 yaş grubu için normatif verileri, Ayçiçeği ve ark. tarafından 2003 yılında sunulmuştur. Çalışma 1 'in amacı; 1) Mevcut Semptomlar Ölçeğinin geçerlilik ve güvenirliği ile ilgili daha kapsamlı bilgiler elde etmek, 2) Genişletilmiş Kısa Uluslararası Nöropsikiyatrik Görüşme formunda yer alan Dikkat Eksikliği Hiperaktivite Bozukluğunu ölçen alt ölçeği ile Mevcut Semptomlar Ölçeğini birlikte vererek MSÖ'nün geçerliliğini saptamaktır. Çalışma 2'nin amacı ise, bu testin değişik yaş ve eğitim düzeyleri için normatif verilerini sunmaktadır. Yöntem: Çalışma l'de, Mevcut Semptomlar Ölçeği 1 000 üniversite öğrencisine uygulanmış ve bu öğrencilerin 151 tanesine test tekrar verilerek test-tekrar test güvenilirliğine bakılmıştır. Genişletilmiş Kısa Uluslararası Nöropsikiyatrik Görüşme'nin Dikkat Eksikliği Hiperaktivite Bozukluğu alt ölçeği 1000 öğrencinin 926'sı tarafından doldurulmuştur. Çalışma 2'de ise, normal örneklemde farklı yaş ve eğitim düzeylerinde olan 1903 kişiye Mevcut Semptomlar Ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Bulgular: Alfa ve güvenirlik değerleri anlamlı olup Genişletilmiş Kısa Uluslararası Nöropsikiyatrik Görüşme'nin Dikkat Eksikliği Hiperaktivite Bozukluğu alt ölçeği ve Mevcut Semptomlar Ölçeği arasındaki korelasyonlar oldukça yüksektir. Çalışma 1 ve 2'de varimaks rotasyonlu temel bileşen faktör analizi sonuçları beklenildiği gibi iki faktörlü yapıyı desteklemiştir. Hiperaktivite alt ölçeğine ait olan 6. ve 8. sorular bu faktöre yüklenmediği için çıkarılmıştır. Sonuç: Veriler, Mevcut Semptomlar Ölçeği'nin geçerli ve güvenilir bir test olduğunu göstermektedir.
