The associations among smartphone addiction, general belongingness and happiness: A structural equation modelling (tur)

INTRODUCTION: The smartphone addiction has gained attention in recent years with the increase development in technology. People use smartphones for several purposes but this also result in pathological behavioral, emotional and cognitive problems. Aim of current study is to reveal the associations among smartphone addiction, general belongingness and happiness by using structural equation modelling.
METHODS: Participants of study consists of 312 university students. In data collection process, “Smartphone Addiction Inventory Short Form-“, “Oxford Happiness Scale” and “General Belongingness Scale” were used. In data analysis correlation analysis and structural equation modelling were used to reveal the associations among smartphone addiction, general belongingness and happiness levels of participants.
RESULTS: Results of study revealed a negative significant correlation between smartphone addiction and hapiness levels of participants. Moreover a positive significant correlation was found between smartphone addiction and rejection –the dimension of general belongingness-, whereas no significant correlation was found smartphone addiction and acceptance –the dimension of general belongingness-. Happiness levels of participants were found to be positively and significantly correlated with acceptance and negatively correlated with rejection. Path analysis showed that general belongingness predicted smartphone addiction in a positive way. General belongingness also predicted happiness directly and smartphone addiction negatively predicted happiness.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: In sum, smartphone addiction was significantly correlated with both happiness and general belongingness levels of participants. Moreover, a structural equation model among the smartphone addiction, general belongingness and happiness revealed an acceptable fit indexes. Lastly, findings were discussed and suggestions were given in line with the theorotical background and literature.

Akıllı telefon bağımlılığı, genel aidiyet ve mutluluk arasındaki ilişkilerin yapısal eşitlik modellemesi ile incelenmesi (tur)

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Bu araştırmanın amacı akıllı telefon bağımlılığı, genel aidiyet ve mutluluk arasındaki yordayıcı ilişkileri ortaya koymaktır.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu farklı bölümlerde öğrenim gören toplam 312 üniversite öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin toplanması amacıyla Akıllı Telefon Bağımlılığı Ölçeği Kısa Formu, Oxford Mutluluk Ölçeği Kısa Formu, Genel Aidiyet Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Değişkenler arası ilişkilerin ortaya konulmasında korelasyon analizi ve yapısal eşitlik modellemesi kullanılmıştır.
BULGULAR: Bulgular akıllı telefon bağımlılığının mutluluk ile negatif yönlü ilişkili olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Akıllı telefon bağımlılığı genel aidiyetin reddedilme boyutu ile pozitif yönlü ilişkili bulunmuştur ancak kabul edilme boyutu ile anlamlı ilişki bulunmamıştır. Mutluluk ise genel aidiyetin kabul edilme boyutu ile pozitif, reddedilme ile negatif yönlü ilişki bulunmuştur. Yol analizi sonuçları genel aidiyetin kabul edilme ve reddedilme boyutlarının akıllı telefon bağımlılığını pozitif yönde yordadığını göstermiştir. Kabul edilme ve reddedilme boyutları mutluluğu doğrudan yordadığı ve akıllı telefon bağımlılığının mutluluğu negatif yönde yordadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Elde edilen sonuçlara göre akllı telefon bağımlılığı ile genel aidiyet duygusu arasında pozitif, mutluluk ile negatif bir ilişki vardır. Ayrıca akıllı telefon bağımlılığı, mutluluk, kabul edilme ve reddedilme arasındaki yol analizine ilişkin oluşturulan modelin iyi uyum gösterdiği sonucu elde edilmiştir.
